Soldiers from 82 Division Nigerian Army, Enugu, have said the gunmen who attacked polling stations during the Local Government Election earlier in the week have been crushed.
The Director, Army Public Relations Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement issued, said the Enugu operation was carried out in collaboration with the police in the state.

Daily Trust gathered that the gunmen recovered corpses of their members who were gunned down by security forces the same Wednesday after they had earlier attacked two polling units and murdered some people, including security operatives.
The corpses were reportedly being conveyed in a Tipper Truck where about seven AK-47 rifles were recovered.
“During the intelligence driven operation, carried out around Centenary Estate Obeagu Uno, troops uncovered 7 AK 47 rifles, 2 Pump Action rifles, 10 rifle Magazines, 8 live cartridges, 74 live rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition, one hand grenade, a tipper truck containing 3 corpses among other items. The items have been handed over to Enugu State Police Command for further action,” Nwachukwu said.
He further added During the clearance operations, troops overpowered and routed the dissidents, who staged an ambush.
