The 25 officers, two of them from outside of the shores of Nigeria were led by Air Commodore Umar Suleiman on a programme called “Nigeria Study Tour” to tour the state in one week.
The tour was to enrich the course participants’ knowledge on revenue generation.
They were taken through the relevant technology deployed by the state in the Nasarawa Geographic Information Systems (NAGIS), a 24-month project of urbanization executed by Siraj Consulting Engineers.
The project team led by Sonny Agassi who is lands commissioner in company of Alhaji Ibrahim Jibril Usman as well as Roland Klaus, took the military officers through the relevant technology deployed at the NAGIS complex, giving detailed explanation of the components of the project, namely Digital Aerial Mapping (DAM), Geographic Information Services (GIS), and planning of cadastral districts to phase out the growth of slums especially on the gateway to Abuja.
 The project team informed the military officers of the processes involved in executing the computerized lands management, including map making from the aerial images captured through the project component called DAM.
They said the maps makes Nasarawa the only up-to-date state in such technology, far beating the Federal Capital Territory Administration’s AGIS, which relies only on Google images obtained in 2009.
The maps, according to Agassi, can be used for various purposes including military operations and disaster management.
 Air Commodore Suleiman and his team hailed the technology at the NAGIS complex, saying they were impressed that Nigeria can attain such heights.
