Soldiers raid bandits’ camp in Plateau, kill 1

Men of the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security taskforce maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, and the 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, have raided bandits’ hideouts in Teng village, Qua’anpan Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing one of them.

The soldiers also recovered arms and ammunition during the operation.

Disclosing the development on Friday in Jos, the spokesperson of the military formation, Major Samson Zhakom, said the operation was part of the ongoing efforts to flush out arm-carrying criminals from Plateau State.

Narrating the incident, Major Zhakom said, “In the early hours of May 23, 2025, troops of 3 Division/Operation Safe Haven conducted an intelligence-based raid operation at bandits’ hideout at Teng village in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“During the operation, troops made contact, overwhelmed the criminals and forced them to retreat in disarray. One bandit was neutralised during the exchange of gunfire, while traces of blood along their withdrawal routes indicate that some of the fleeing bandits sustained massive gunshot wounds.

“Troops exploited the hideout and recovered one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine and 11 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. The recovered arms and ammunition are in the custody of troops for further action,” Major Zhakom added.
