The Village Head of Pinau in Wase Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, Dr Dadda’u Ahmad, and his driver who were kidnapped in the early hours of Tuesday have been rescued by soldiers of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).

The spokesperson of OPSH, a multi-security task force maintaining peace in Plateau and parts of Bauchi and Kaduna states, Major Ishaku Takwa, confirmed the rescue to Daily Trust.

Ubale Pinau, a resident of Pinau, told Daily Trust that soon after the abduction was reported to soldiers stationed in the village, they swung into action and trailed the kidnappers where they rescued the victims and recovered two guns and three motorcycles.

Nazifi Abubakar, a vigilante, told our correspondent that, “I was with the soldiers during the rescue operation. The traditional ruler has been brought back to the village by the soldiers. There was exchange of fire between the soldiers and the criminals before the victims were rescued.”
