The Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, has awarded a N500,000 cheque to the top candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).

Miss Ifebude Benson received the award for achieving the highest marks in the examination.

The state Commissioner for Education, Professor Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, presented the award on behalf of the governor to the recipient, who was represented by her father, Mr. Ben Benson, during a ceremony in Awka on Monday.

“The award is the governor’s way of encouraging academic excellence among Anambra pupils and students,”

“The state government has made significant investments in education, all with the aim of ensuring that the quality of education in Anambra is on par with what is found in developed countries, thus enabling Anambra students to compete favorably with their peers globally.”he said.

Ifebude has been admitted to the University of Abuja, where she is currently studying Medicine and Surgery.

In response, Ifebude’s father, Mr. Benson, expressed his gratitude to Governor Soludo for the recognition.

He said that the award highlights the governor’s commitment to encouraging hard work and excellence.

Mr. Benson further noted that the recognition would motivate his daughter to continue striving for success and positively represent the state.
