The rehabilitation of existing grazing reserves and the provision of new ones all over Nigeria and provide for their maintenance so that crop farmers do not encroach to cultivate near the areas.
The reopening of existing local, national and international cattle routes (known as burtali) and creating more of these to make for successful and free movement of herdsmen and their cattle, and making sure that no crop farmer activities block the routes in the process of cultivating crops.
Provision of reliable dams to assure all-round availability of water for the herdsmen and their cattle should also be considered.
Providing security, especially in remote areas where nomadic Fulani predominate, is also essential.
Rehabilitation of all abandoned nomadic education schools and the introduction would enable them take more interest in Western education.
Insecurity of lives and property, lack of grazing reserve, dams and cattle route blockage, among others, are the major causes of Fulani herdsmen/farmers clashes in Nigeria.
