Some aspirants have indicated interest to step down, said Ojo Maduekwe, chairman of the PDP’s national congress and convention planning committee this morning.
This comes amidst concerns over a possible consensus candidates.
He told journalists negotiations were still going on among aspirant until the final minutes when the contest is announced.
He said the PDP should be commended because of its advanced conflict resolutions capacity, stressing that ability to reach consensus shows PDP strength and vitality for unity of purpose.
“These things are dynamic. We will never know the state of things until when the contest is announced,” said Maduekwe on live television.
He said “as of this morning, they were getting close to having a consensus candidate” among some of the candidates for specific positions.
But he said consensus is consistent with the PDP constition and that of the country, and hailed the PDP for doing a good job.
