The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly beating his biological father, Adone Peter, 65, to death following a violent altercation in Oda community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abayomi Jimoh, while speaking to Daily Trust on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu.

According to the police spokesman, the incident occurred on May 28 when the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a confrontation that escalated into a physical assault.

“During the attack, the victim reportedly sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, and was rushed to a medical facility for treatment. However, he was later confirmed dead by doctors while receiving medical attention,” he said.

He said the matter was reported by one Daniel Moses, another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, prompting detectives to launch an investigation.

“Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning,” he said

He said the remains of the deceased have been deposited in a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

“The suspect remains in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he said.
