Odumodu stated this in Lagos recently during the presentation of NIS ISO 22000:2005 certificate to Promasidor Nigeria Limited.
According to him, food and its global security is now a major source of concern to the leaders all over the world.
“In an effort to address this concern, several food summits and global policies on safety, scarcity and supply chain have emerged.
“Failure to protect the safety of food leads to a decline in consumer confidence in the safety of many food products and threatens the economic vitality.”
Odumodu stressed that in response to global efforts, many programs have been developed by industries, organizations, and government agencies to reduce the risk of, or eliminate food contamination of any kind.
“If any organization is to continually gain a respectable position in this very challenging yet competitive market of delivering quality and safe food, it needs to enlighten the public and work hard to satisfy its customers’ current needs”.
Odumodu noted that “the company has now joined the league of the lofty class of Food Safety Management System certified companies in Nigeria,” adding that only 17 organisations have received this certification in Nigeria from SON.
The director general observed that the award was a giant stride in the pursuit of excellence in manufacturing towards providing not only quality food to the teeming consumers but food that is equally safe for consumption..
“My challenge to you today is to keep up the good work that you have started and be up to date, to continually reap the benefit of ISO approach to food safety management. We are already receiving informations from your customers to assure ourselves that you are living up to their expectation,” he said.
Earlier Chief Richards said that the company would continue to improve on food safety and hygiene in a way that would guarantee sound health of the teeming customers of the company’s brands.
Keith noted that the company was built on vision, innovation and strives to continue getting affordable products to the public.
