An accident which occurred in Bauchi has claimed the life of a prominent chieftain of All Progressives Congress ( APC) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Babayo Ahmed.
It has also injured his son who was driving the vehicle and another person and are receiving medical attention.
Babayo who holds the traditional title of Katukan Misau Emirate died in the accident Wednesday.
The accident reportedly occurred on Bauchi-Maiduguri highway between Soro in Ganjuuwa local government and Darazo.
He was said to be travelling to Misau, to condole the Chief of Darazo over the death of his wife.
The deceased, had served former Bauchi state governor Ahmed Adamu Muazu as his Special Adviser on Inter-Party Affairs and former governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda as Director General and Special Adviser on Political Matters.
He is also a member of a committee set up by governor Mohammed Abubakar to review the dissolution of districts and village areas by the State House of Assembly.
The deceased has since been buried same day according to Islamic rites after a prayer held at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi.
Confirming the incidence, Head of Operations, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Paul Gua said that the accident occurred as a result of a tyre burst.
According to him, the accident occurred at about 11am at Nahuta on Bauchi-Darazo highway.
“It was a lone accident. The tyre of the Peugeot 406 vehicle with Reg. No. FKJ 918 CV, which they were traveling in bursted.”
He said there were three in the vehicle including the deceased but only Alhaji Babayo Ahmed who died.
