The South Eastern Muslim Organisation of Nigeria (SEMON), a global umbrella body for Ndi’Igbo Muslims, has called on the newly elected President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator John Azuta-Mbata, to leverage his expertise and experience to foster unity among the Ndigbo, transcending cultural, religious, and regional divides.

In a congratulatory statement signed by SEMON President Suleman Agha Afikpo, the group described Azuta-Mbata’s election as a significant milestone, reflecting his exceptional leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Igbo community.

“As a former senator, your distinguished background has undoubtedly equipped you for this esteemed role. We pledge our allegiance and urge you to build upon the legacy of your predecessor, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu,” the statement read.

SEMON highlighted the strides made under Iwuanyanwu’s leadership, particularly the integration of the South Eastern Muslim Organisation of Nigeria, and expressed confidence that these achievements would be consolidated under Azuta-Mbata’s sagacious leadership.

The group also extended congratulations to other members of the new Ohanaeze leadership team, elected during the stakeholders’ meeting held at the Old Government Lodge in Enugu on Friday, January 10, 2025.

“As you embark on this new journey, SEMON prays for Allah’s guidance, wisdom, and strength to help you lead the affairs of Ndigbo equitably. May your tenure be defined by unity, progress, and prosperity for the Igbo nation,” the statement added.
