I write to the good people of Southern Kaduna because I am concerned. I am concerned about the wanton destruction of lives and properties, about the developmental set back in your area and the wanton disregard for human lives. This is not a time to portion blame but to end this quagmire or madness.

In order to ensure a lasting solution to this problem, we should first of all guard against propaganda and spreading falsehood.

As a Minister of F.C.T Mallam El-Rufai met Abuja in a state of (infrastructural decay, double and triple allocations, poor sanitation, blockage of sewage pipelines, building on green areas and the worst of it, breakdown of security. He came up with policies to address the challenges including restoration of Abuja’s Master Plans but he was highly misunderstood and widely criticized. As a leader, he went ahead and implemented his policies. Today, Malam El-Rufai is regarded as the best Minister ever had in FCT, Abuja.

As a Governor, he initiated some reforms such as Educational and Health reforms. Some misunderstood his reforms and his antagonists succeeded in misinterpreting and misinforming the public. In his reforms today in Kaduna State, the Maternal and Infant Mortality rates have dropped to a significant number.

His antagonists accused him of ethnic cleansing of Christian dominated southern Kaduna. No leader will send banditries after his people. Every leader wants peace and stability within his/her areas of jurisdiction. It was out of his believe and commitment to peace, that he had to compensate the Fulani Herdsmen in exchange for peace and stability in the State but today, he is been blamed for that. The critics forgot that it was Late Patrick Yakowa that initiated the payment in good faith according to Gen. Martins Luther Agwai’s report.

Malam El-Rufai does not hate the Christians. Politics is a game. You have to understand the political permutations of a place and use it to your advantage and that is what he did. He defended his Muslim-Muslim ticket by stating “Muslim-Muslim ticket is not a religious ticket but a competent and performance ticket”. He saw quality on Dr. Hadiza Balarabe and her results in reforming Primary Healthcare Services in the State. Every person that knows Hadiza agreed that she is a woman of integrity and credibility. Hadiza is your daughter from Sanga, your blood. The only difference is faith. She will always protect and defend your interests.

The good people of southern Kaduna, El-Rufai will not islamise your State, he will not destroy your people. As a Governor, he wants the best for his state which include people of southern Kaduna. What he wants from you people is support and understanding. He is not a failure and he will not fail in Kaduna State.

My prayer for the people of Kaduna State is for God almighty to bring peace, love, understanding and prosperity in your state. As we in Abuja celebrate Mallam El-Rufai for his impressive performance as a minister, one day your people will celebrate his performance as Governor of Kaduna State.
