President of a Coalition of Southern Nigeria Forum, Hon. Henry Nwanbueze, has called on Nigerian youths to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to successfully navigate the country through its challenging times.

Speaking at a meeting with the state and zonal coordinators of the group in Lagos, on Thursday, Nwanbueze emphasized the potential dangers of protests and the importance of unity and constructive efforts.

According to the Coalition Southern Forum, there will be no protests in Southern Nigeria as Nwanbueze expressed gratitude for President Tinubu’s efforts towards national development, particularly the liberation of local governments towards full autonomy.

Nwanbueze warned that protests could be hijacked by enemies of progress and hoodlums, leading to violence, loss of lives, and destruction of property. He cited the EndSARS protests as a stark reminder of how well-intentioned movements can turn chaotic and tragic.

“We all remember the EndSARS protests and the devastation that followed when it was overtaken by hoodlums,” Nwanbueze stated.

“Protests, though a means of expressing dissatisfaction, often bring more harm than good. We must remain calm and patient, giving President Tinubu the support and time he needs to rebuild our nation.

“The success of the Renewed Hope Agenda requires a collective effort from all Nigerians. I called for patience and faith in the government’s plans, urging the youth to be part of the solution.

“In these difficult times, prayer and unity are what our nation needs. We must come together to support our president and ensure his vision for Nigeria is realized. By doing so, we can avoid the pitfalls of unrest and work towards a brighter future”.

Nwanbueze emphasized the importance of agricultural initiatives to combat hunger and make food more affordable. He encouraged the youth to engage in agricultural schemes across all states, which could significantly reduce food scarcity and lower prices.

“Our agricultural sector has immense potential. By embracing farming and related activities, we can tackle hunger, create jobs, and contribute to the overall stability of our economy.”

In his closing remarks, Comrade Segun Nelson, Secretary General of the organization, echoed Nwanbueze’s sentiments, urging the youth to be more measured in their demands and appealing to members of the National Assembly to cut down their budgets as a sign of support for the president.

Nelson emphasized the importance of agriculture, recalling the groundnut pyramids of the past, and encouraged the youth to see agriculture as a viable means to make Nigeria a food basket for the international community.

“At this critical juncture, our focus should be on constructive efforts and supporting our leaders,” Nelson said. “Agriculture can be a cornerstone of our economy, providing sustenance and employment. Let’s work together to achieve this vision.”

Nwanbueze and Comrade Nelson’s appeals served as a reminder of the potential for peaceful and productive engagement in nation-building.

By choosing prayer and support over protests, Nigerian youth can significantly contribute to the country’s stability and growth, ensuring a prosperous future for all.
