The amateur tournament which serves off tomorrow is a week-long competition and will see members vie for laurels in the Men’s Division 1 & 11, Ladies Singles and Veteran Singles, Men’s Doubles and Super Veterans Singles respectively.
The 4th edition promises to be another very exciting experience for all lovers of the game and is said to be one of the company’s reference points in sports development in the country.
According to the organizers, the tournament will also provide an atmosphere of bonding and relaxation for all the busy Executives who will be taking part in all the stated categories.
The chairman of the Table Tennis Section of Ikoyi Club 1938, Mr. Anthony Owolabi thanked the Management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc for its continued sponsorship of the tournament in the last four years and also appealed to other corporate organizations to emulate the gesture of the underwriting firm in promoting sporting activities in the country. “Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc has shown a great deal of commitment to sports development in Nigeria at all levels”.
He said the intervention of the company in sporting activities has been quite commendable and that members of Ikoyi Club 1938 have no doubt in their minds that the underwriting firm will maintain that pioneering role amongst the comity of insurance companies in the country for a very long time to come.

Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate Communications and Brand Management of Sovereign Trust Insurance Plc, Mr. Segun Bankole said the firm has a well defined philosophy in promoting sports in Nigeria as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
According to him, the company has an avowed commitment to promoting a healthy society through recreational activities of such nature.
