Spanish Embassy to hold visual arts competition

The Embassy of Spain in Abuja has unveiled plans for the 11th edition of the visual arts competition awards ceremony which will take place this week at the Thought Pyramid Art Centre.
According to a release by the mission’s cultural adviser, Eva Barta, the theme of the event is ‘Idealism and Fantasy.’
She said: “The event is aimed at boosting young Nigerian talents and also to mark the 4th Centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes, author of the famous novel, Don Quixote.
“An open contest on the Facebook page of the Embassy will be the platform for young Nigerians to showcase their talents and it is scheduled to commence a week before the event. The winner will be chosen by a selection panel made up by Nigerian representatives of the arts and Embassy of Spain in Abuja,” Barta said.
The winner will be awarded with a trip to Madrid in February next year to visit ARCO, one of the major modern day art fairs in the world.
