Spider-man will have a new foe in the person of actor Jake Gyllenhaal, playing a character who will bring mystery in the Spider-Man universe, Hollywood Reporters revealed in a video. 

The villain, named Quentin Beck, aka Mysterio, is going to appear in the sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. The character comes from Spider-Man creators, Stan Lee and Steve Ditko and was first introduced in the comics in 1964.  

The villain is a special effects expert who would use his talent to create elaborate illusion, commit crimes and fight a friendly neighbourhood hero. 

It has been reported, fans have long lobbied for Gyllenhaal to take a role in a superhero movie.
