The Chairman of the FCT Football Association (FCT FA), Alhaji Adam Mouktar Mohammed, has said he is greatly motivated by his latest award as the Sports Icon of the Year, to continue to render selfless services to sports, particularly football.
The astute football administrator and promoter was among those who were honoured with different awards at the recently held Blueprint Newspaper Awards ceremony in Abuja.
The Award which was presented to the Jigawa State born politician cum football administrator at the Abuja Continental Hotel (former Sheraton Hotel) was in recognition of his enormous contributions to sports development in Nigeria.
The Minister of Mines, Mr. Dele Alake, presented the award to Mohammed at the event which had in attendance the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Alhaji Shehu Dikko and a host of other top government officials.

Speaking on his award, the Chairman of the FCT FA said: “For me to be recognised as the Sports Icon of the Year is definitely heartwarming and it goes a long way to motivate me to do more.
“There is a lot to be done to transform our nation and this also inspires the next generation to put in hard work, sacrifice and perseverance to give back to society in their various fields of endeavour.
“I appreciate the award organisers for finding me worthy of this honour. I am not going to rest on my oars,” said Mohammed.
A prominent football stakeholder in the FCT, Coach Mansur Abdullahi, said the honour bestowed on the FA Chairman didn’t come to him as a surprise.
“It is honour well-deserved because he has repositioned football in the FCT. His visionary and dynamic leadership has engendered grassroots football development in the FCT and beyond,” he said.
