The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare has applauded the patriotism and enthusiasm exhibited by Nigeria’s first ever gymnast in Olympics Uche Eke.

The USA based youngster made history in Tokyo on Saturday but failed to advance to the All-Around final from subdivision 2 of the artistic gymnastics event.

The 24-year-old, who was making his Olympic Games debut, scored a total of 74.765 points to place 36th at the Ariake Gymnastics Centre.

Eke’s aim was to make a podium finish in Tokyo but after the mishap in Tokyo, he wants to immediately return to the drawing board to prepare for a better outing in 2024 in France.
