President of SSANU Comrade Samson Ugwoke who received nine of the 12 buses told reporters that the union decided to create an investment company to boost its earnings and reduce dependence on check-off dues.
Ugwoke said, “This is just one of the many chains of businesses that the SSANU investment business will run; this is the transport sector of it. SSANU Investment Company Limited will move into the block moulding industry, after this we will go into poultry.
“Before I leave office after my first tenure in 2015 or if they decide I should go a second tenure, I will make sure that at least up to 40 percent of financial needs of SSANU will come from within and no longer based on check off dues.”
While presenting the buses, the Managing Director of the Infrastructure bank Mr Adekunle Abdulrazak Oyinloye said the bank credit facility given to SSANU came at very concessionary interest rate and with a time period sufficiently long enough to facilitate repayment with ease.
