Short Story Day Africa (SSDA) seeks 3000 to 5000-word fiction set in a hotel. It could be in the rooms, the passages, the bars and the lobbies of hotels across Africa, as well as metafiction exploring Africa as a hotel herself.
First prize is $800, second $200, and third $100. However, there is a small fee for submissions.
The prize has had many talented and renowned writers. Sibongile Fisher, a poet and writer from Johannesburg, South Africa was its 2016 winner.
Submissions opened June 1 2018 to close August 31 2018.
