Stakeholders in the education sector have called for the adoption of information and communication technology (ICT) in the functioning of registries of polytechnics and colleges of technology.
Leading the call was the Rector of Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), Dr (Mrs) Margaret Oladipo at the Conference of Registrars of Polytechnics and Colleges of Technology (COREG) in Nigeria held in Yabatech.
According to the rector who was represented by the Deputy Administration, Raheem Omobayo, the registries are central to the existence of the higher institutions of learning and as such they are expected to be innovative when it comes to being entrenched with global practices.
“As a responsible management, we at Yabatech realise the importance of the registry. We will therefore continue to empower the unit through the provision of necessary infrastructural facilities, manpower development and the computerisation of registry records,” she said.
