They resolved at a town hall meeting held in Makurdi on Monday to support Jonathan and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure a landslide victory that would enable the party sustain its culture of true democracy.
“If we must therefore sustain these achievements, and also ensure genuine democracy in our country, we must rally round the ruling party in order to ensure continuity in our polity,” former Minister for State in the Niger Delta Ministry, Dr. Sam Ode said.
Ode, who is also the state’s coordinator of the Jonathan/Sambo presidential campaign organisation emphasised the need to retain PDP in power because, according to him, the party had sustained the nation’s democracy, preserved its wheel of progress and steady growth and development in the country.
Former Speaker pro tempore in the House of Representatives, Terngu Tsegba, urged the party to effectively use the six weeks window created by the shift in the polls to embark on aggressive campaigns in order to woo more supporters for the party at the grassroots.
