Stakeholders and chairmen of the Labour Party in the South-East zone have expressed confidence in Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, and his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, citing their roles in the party’s activities in the state and the region.

The position was contained in a communiqué presented to the deputy governor, in which the stakeholders commended the Abia State leadership for its efforts in party organisation and coordination.

The communiqué was signed by stakeholders across the region, including Hon. Chidiebere Darlington Anyanwu (CHYDON), Comrade Eze Oko Splendour, Hon. Dr. Ezeh Emmanuel Ezeh, Chief Edozie Ezeugwa, Hon. Chuks A. Okolo, Deacon Chuka Solomon Obaego, and several state party chairmen.

The stakeholders also expressed support for the party’s national leadership.

According to the communiqué, the group acknowledged the contributions of Governor Otti and Deputy Governor Emetu to the party and indicated support for their continued roles.

They also expressed support for the National Chairman, Nenadi Usman, and the National Secretary, Darlington Nwokocha, ahead of the party’s forthcoming national convention.

On zoning within the National Working Committee (NWC), the group said positions allocated to the South-East should be distributed among states in the zone. Under the arrangement proposed, Ebonyi State would produce the National Vice Chairman (South-East), Imo State the Deputy National Youth Leader, and Enugu State the Deputy National Woman Leader.

The stakeholders further indicated support for serving state party chairmen in the South-East zone in the lead-up to the state congresses.

They also appealed to the party’s leadership to consider their proposals to support coordination within the zone.
