A one-day state level symposium with academia, civil society and the media on Nutrition aimed at forging areas of partnership and collaboration, has commenced in Katsina.

 

Speaking at the opening session, UNICEF Katsina chief field officer, Padmavathi Yedla said the need to work together to address nutrition issues is desirable giving its multi-faceted fronts.

She said the alarming situation calls for attitudinal changes noting that all hands must be on deck.

 

In his remarks, Director of Primary Health in the state primary health care development agency Dr. Shamsu Yahaya said the agency is working hard to reverse the malnutrion level across the state.

 

For the UNICEF nutrition specialist, Niyi Oyedokun said Katsina is the second highest behind Kano in terms of people suffering with malnutrition saying that ‘ the meeting intends to provide a platform for the stakeholders to rub minds and address the ugly situation’
