Stakeholders tasked on educational budgeting rights
She said this at a two-day town-hall meeting, saying there was the need for members of the community to be consulted before drafting an educational budget.
A non-governmental organisation, Connected Development, also known as “Follow the money,” has tasked stakeholders from Fufore and Yola South local government areas of Adamawa State on educational budgeting.
Hameedat Muhammad, project assistant of Malala Fund, said educational stakeholders needed to be enlightened on educational budget and how that could foster solutions to the obstacles that were hindering girl-child education in the state.
She said this at a two-day town-hall meeting, saying there was the need for members of the community to be consulted before drafting an educational budget.
“For the purpose of bridging the gap between the government and the people, we empower marginalised communities by giving them information on how to change their lives and communities.
“Most importantly, we want the needs of the girl-child to be reflected in the budget and the community at large. We have discovered that girl-child education is not just to be pegged in the general education, we want a special consideration for the needs of the girl-child that would ensure effective education.
