Stakeholders to examine labour laws at MINILS’ summit

The discussion is part of activities marking this year’s annual national labour relations summit and fellowship award of the institute based in Ilorin, coming up on the 28th of this month.
A press statement signed by the spokesman of the institute Wale Ibrahim said critical stakeholders will focus on the impact of legal-institutional frameworks and instrument(s) on labour relations and development efforts in Nigeria, as well as the contribution of critical actors in the sector in terms of defining these processes.
 Justice Benedict Kanyip, PhD of the National Industrial Court of Nigeria will speak on “Labour Laws, Participatory Democracy and the Development Process in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Prospects,” with former Chief Justice Alfa Belgore expected to chair the occasion.
Some Nigerians including Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State, President of the National Industrial Court Justice Babatunde Adejumo and Head of Civil Service of the Federation Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji will be conferred with the Fellowship of the National Institute for Labour Studies (FNILS) in recognition of their contributions to the development of sound labour administration, and promotion of best practices in the sector.
Others are Director General of Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Assembly Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Abdulwahed Omar, former head of the institute Mr. Jacob Jeminiwa and the President of Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions Comrade Ladi Iliya
