Stallion motors’ new family car line up, yet late

Still, we cannot ignore the fact that the recent line up of family cars is very stunning.  The Superb is like a mini limo very accommodating with comfortable seats and high quality dashboard materials. The center console is very well laid like the Golf VI and the drivers’ environment will make you feel cocooned.  There is ample legroom, headroom, kneeroom and any more room you can think of. It is absolutely fascinating. The best part is just like the last year’s Octavia we drove this car has excellent ground clearance- or even better we reckon. As if it were built for Nigerians the only thing I wish it had is a all wheel drive system which we haven’t heard any rumour.

The Passat CC is better because it is a drivers car for the family but I will be willing to put my money this car will mainly be bought by Nigerian young men- perhaps those who have just struck oil. The dimension inside the car makes the car accommodating but it lacks in enough head room. But the Superb and Passat CC have a 1.8 TSI engine and a DSG transmission for super driving and their starting price is from N4.4 million and N5.55 million. The car is built with a 3.6 litres gasoline V6 engine for the Nigerian market. The engine integrates with a six speed direct shift gearbox. The engine also offers 300 horsepower at 6600 rpm, and 266 pound-feet of torque at 2500 rpm. It has been estimated to sprint up to 62mph in 6.6 seconds and its TDI engine complies with euro 4 emissions standards, and has an Adaptive Chassis Control.

We do not want to forget the newest car of the bunch which is the 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We have had a peep at it in the show room and it is the future but not a bench mark. It style is very much modern, almost looking like an inspiration from Bangles. The interior is very Cadillac, yet still very appealing but we could be very sure of the interior quality. It did look a bit deceiving. Yet on the whole, we think it’s a great car with great engine.  We don’t know the price but we find out before the next publication- hope I don’t fall ill again.

The arrival of these cars except for the Sonata were clearly late perhaps due to clearance issues at the Nigerian port- this was what most auto industries were facing including Weststar.
