Stanbic IBTC Holdings, a member of Standard Bank Group, has kicked off the Digital Skills Empowerment Programme (DiSEP).

The initiative was introduced to bridge the huge tech gap in the ecosystem and avail participants with competitive advantage in the global workforce, a statement by the group said.

The programme kicked off via a virtual opening ceremony recently with 221 young Nigerians. DiSEP will run for three months, with the first tranche ending January 2022.

A comprehensive induction session and five global in-depth courses have been included in the programme with top professional certifications in emerging technology – MS Certified Azure Database Administrator, IBM Applied AI Professional Certificate, IBM Cybersecurity Analyst Professional Certificate, Google Certified Associate Android Developer, and AWS Certified Associate Developer.

The Country Head, People and Culture at Stanbic IBTC, Funke Amobi, during the event said, “DiSEP is geared towards equipping the right candidates with the appropriate skills to excel in this digital era and ultimately prepare them for the future of work.”

Chief Executive, Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC, Dr Demola Sogunle, said the digital talent initiative formed part of the organisation’s commitment to drive rapid digital technology transformation in the workplace and Nigeria’s economic ecosystem.

He emphasised that the unique opportunity had been designed deliberately to allow young people to become equipped with the right skill set to compete globally and to ensure sustainable economic growth in Nigeria.
