A serial female entrepreneur, Samiah Oyekan-Ahmed,  has urged start-ups to put structures on ground to make their businesses grow. 

Ahmed was speaking at a conference tagged ‘Uncommon Business Mastery for Start-ups’ held yesterday at Ventures Park, Abuja. 

“Put a structure/system on ground for your business. Put your team together and then make them happy. This way your business will grow and run even when you are not around,” she said.

Another speaker and fashion entrepreneur, Huddaya Fadoul Abacha, of Huddaya fashion house said start-ups must learn to separate their business from family and friends in order to succeed.

On his part, a business strategist, Lanre Philips, urged entrepreneurs to know their business, their environment and their customers. 

“Ideas don’t make money but identification of a problem and solving it is what brings in money,” he said.

A business growth specialist, Jimi Tewe, encouraged start-ups to always evaluate and review their businesses. “Do your SWOT analysis and know your Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. This way you will know where you need improvement,” he said and urged entrepreneurs to always set financial goals. 

One of the organisers and CEO of Seedbuilders Nigeria, Olaoluwa Olorunnisomo, spoke on the reason for the conference. 

“The uncommon business mastery for start-ups is just to help entrepreneurs who have been running their businesses for two to three years but are having difficulty in getting results, analyse their business, work on things that are not doing well so that they can improve their productivity and profit,” he said.
