The hotel will fill a gap in accommodation at the mid-price level and is a complement to Starwood’s offerings in Lagos (Sheraton Hotel & Towers) Lagos, as well as the upcoming 368-room Le Méridien Grand Ikoyi Towers, Vice President of Starwood, Africa Region, Mr Hassan Ahdab, said at the launch.

He said Lagos State records about 7, 500 international visitors daily and that makes it a potential ground for the growth of the hospitality business and Starwood Hotels agreed to go into partnership with Oceanwind Ltd to establish the Four Point By Sheraton Hotel as Africa and Nigeria particularly, was an emerging market for hospitality business in the world with abundant opportunities.

He said, “the Nigeria investment climate is quite good for us and we are committed to building a robust hospitality platform in Nigeria. On the average, Lagos records 7,500 international visitors daily. Therefore, the addition of Four Points by Sheraton to this center of commerce will definitely feature as profitable and will as well positively affect employment figures in the state and consequently the overall development of the country.”

Also speaking at the unveiling of the hotel, a financial analyst from the ARM Hospitality and Retail Fund, Mr Adetope Kayode, said the fund was established by Oceanwind Hospitality as a Special Purpose Vehicle to develop and fill in the gap in Nigeria’s hospitality industry.

“Four Point by Sheraton hotels is our flagship in that direction and in the coming months and years, we will be having similar projects in other parts of Lagos, Ibadan and beyond. We see Nigeria as a potential ground for the development,” he said.

Four Points by Sheraton, Lagos is an 8-storey building located within the Victoria Island Annex in Lekki Peninsula of Lagos was built in three years, a representative of ARM, Mr Efosa Evbuomwan, said. He however declined to disclose the total cost of the project. He said, “What I can tell you is that it took us what it takes to build a four star hotel.”

The property which is tastefully finished with state-of-the-art materials and equipment consists of 234 guest rooms and suites, banquet halls, five Food and Beverage outlets, Spa and health club and 120 outdoor parking spaces. All the facilities will be operated by Starwood.

Newsmen were taken round the facilities by the hotel’s Public Relations Manager, Moyo Aina.

The guestrooms consist of 41 suites, 27 Executive Rooms, 56 preferred rooms and 110 traditional rooms. The hotel has High Speed Internet Access anywhere in the hotel.

The Adrenaline Sports bar is a tastefully finished and furnished viewing centre for live league matches across the world. Also in the same category is the blue bar situated beside the hotels’ swimming pool with its alluring and grand finishing. The hotel provides variety of local and international dishes for various customers’ taste.

The origin of this venture lies in a mutual agreement between the owners: popularly known as Oceanwinds Hospitality Limited, an affiliate of the Asset & Resource Management (ARM) Company Ltd, (one of Nigeria’s leading asset management and financial advisory firms) and Starwood Hotel & Resorts Worldwide.

The project is considered to represent an excellent, no-risk, opportunity for Starwood to expand its presence and brand offering in a highly lucrative market which contains limited international, branded, upscale hotel supply, Starwood Vice President, Mr Hassan said.

Four Points By Sheraton Lagos is located on a prime site within the residential part of Victoria Island at the border of Lekki Peninsula, within close proximity of major facilities/establishments such as: The Palms (the premier shopping centre in Nigeria), Mobil House (Headquarters of Exxon Mobil Oil) and the British International School, all located within an approximate 600 metre radius from the hotel site.

The site is also in close proximity to the Chevron Estate headquarters and the proposed site for the Shell estate headquarters.

The location has excellent access to the central business district and is approximately 35 km from Lagos International Airport and the existing Sheraton Lagos Hotel & Towers.
