The FCT Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) is currently preparing about 100,000 indigenous plants in its plant nursery in Kuje in preparation for the 2019 tree planting campaign.
It also said that the seedlings would be distributed to NGOs as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The coordinator, Ishaku Tanko Yamawo, said the plants would help in keeping the environment clean and green.
He, therefore, called on residents in the satellite towns to take tree planting serious so as to make the environment friendlier.
He also said the department was doing its best to ensure that contractors evacuated waste and the satellite towns were kept clean.
He explained that waste evacuation and vegetation control was ongoing in most of the area councils, to ensure that all the area councils were kept neat and green.
Yamawo called on all residents of satellite towns to cooperate with the department by disposing their waste at the appropriate places.
