I hereby appeal to the federal government to please look into the deteriorating portions of the Lokoja-Ajaokuta road, especially in Itobe, as the rainy season seriously sets in. Motorists are having serious problems passing that road which is very strategic to the country as it serves as a link between the North Central and Southern parts of the country. As the federal government intensifies efforts on road projects in several other parts of the country, the case of Lokoja -Ajaokuta road should be put into serious consideration.

Doom looming in Loom ponzi scheme?
Loom, a Ponzi scheme, is repoerted to have slowed down, as fewer people are said to be investing in it, just shortly after it targeted Nigerians to participate in the scheme. News reports say some Nigerians have started complaining of the slow pace at which the scheme, as if to learn from MMM. Even the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as in the case of MMM, has cautioned against Loom Ponzi scheme. I urge Nigerians to take note of the Acting Director-General of the SEC, Mary Uduk’s warning when she notified investors that Loom has no tangible business model, and is hence a Ponzi scheme where returns are paid from other peoples’ invested sums, and its operation is not registered by the Commission. Married women who secretly invest in such schemes without the knowledge of their husbands should please listen to the SEC DG to avoid losing their marriages.

A wobbling Flying Eagles
After making effort to qualify for this year’s Under-20 World Cup, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria only managed to sneak into the second round of the competition. Not many Nigerians were optimistic on the team’s chances against any second round opponent, considering the rather disappointing performance after the first match which they won 4:0. It was all disappointment after that game. My advice to handlers and players representing Nigeria in any competition is to put sentiment aside and put up proper representation because sports has gone beyond the level of just participating to being an effective portrayer of a country’s image. Proper homework should be made before sending any team and official to represent Nigeria anywhere.

NBC, pls leave AIT/Raypower alone
The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) is reported to have threatened to sanction Daar Communications Group over the use of social media comments in one of its programmes, Kakaaki, on AIT, describing it as ‘inciting’ and ‘unfair’ content. I wish to use this medium to ask the NBC to stop gagging the press and look for more meaningful things to do insteading of trying to pursue shaddows. The broadcast of social media comments on Kakaaki is one of the best innovations in broadcsting in the country, as it conveys the feelings of many Nigerians, so for the NBC to claim that the act is treasonable smacks of misplaced priority and portrays the commmission as not striving to work for the generality of the citizens but for just the government.
