Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Kaduna State Chapter, Engineer Eneji James Upahi said at the annual engineering week in Kaduna Polytechnic that “having collapsed buildings among others should have been addressed when registered and certified engineers were consulted.”
This year’s theme is “Abuse of professional ethics and the effect on national development”.
He promised that the engineering body at state and national levels will work with the law enforcement agencies to make sure it enforces professional ethics and avoid the patronage of quacks who are sabotaging the industry.
An engineer with the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA), Kaduna, Dr Jacob Akindapo said a registered engineer avoids deceptive acts.
He said it is unethical for any engineer to be a contractor and a consultant for the same project.
 The annual event featured projects by student of Kaduna Polytechnic which include a prototype traffic light, house-wiring design with switch-over for external source (generator), solar panel, juice mixer amongst others.
