The FCT Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Winifred Shokpeka, has advised corps members posted to the territory to desist from the act of rejecting posting to their places of primary assignment.
Mrs Winifred gave the advice at the closing ceremony for the 2023 Batch C Stream 1 orientation course for corps members deployed to serve in the FCT held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Abuja, on Tuesday.
She said, “My motherly appeal to you is to accept your posting in good faith and settle down in your respective places of primary assignment and contribute your quota to the development of our great nation through the execution of viable community development service.”
She disclosed that 4,580 corps members were duly registered for the orientation course and had been deployed to various places.
She further said, “I encourage you to continue your skill acquisition training which you have been introduced to while on camp, by taking advantage of your SAED programme.”
The FCT Minister of State, Dr Mariya Mahmoud, also appealed to the corps members to cooporate and unite themselves with their host communities while carrying out their primary assignment.
She assured them of the administration’s support and charged them to remain compliant with the camp rules and regulations and also distance yourselves from social vices such as cultism and drug abuse.
She further said, “I wish to seize this opportunity to admonish you to be peaceful and law-abiding as you step into FCT communities for your primary assignment. This will draw the people to love, accept and support you throughout your service year.”
