Stop these extrajudicial killings in hunt for Boko Haram

As is well known, many people who live in Abuja are homeless. Some sleep under the bridge because of lack of accommodation; others can be found in uncompleted buildings at night after their daily activities. The fact however a handful of them are criminals. In my twelve years of staying in Abuja, I can say that many lives have been cut short by police personnel and other security agents, especially the lives of those people that do sleep in uncompleted buildings for lack of accommodation.
The death of some innocent Nigerians in the hands of the police, military and the State Security Services in Abuja last month has been rightly condemned by many public figures, who have called for inquiry..
In my opinion, those people shot dead by the security men who alleged them to be members of Boko Haram, were innocent people, not Boko Haram.
I believe that those people who threatened of making Nigeria ungovernable are the Boko Haram and not those that were killed yesterday and those that are dying every day in the hands of the security men in Adamawa, Yobe, Borno, Plateau and so on.
The Nigerian government, under the leadership of Goodluck Jonathan knows those that are Boko Haram but the government is scared of them. President Jonathan declared on many occasions that he knew where the bombing was coming from. If he knows as he claimed, why doesn’t he go there and prevent or stop it from coming?
If you want to kill a tree, you either remove its roots or cut it down, depending on the kind of tree you are dealing with. But the situation where its branches will be cut, leaving the roots or the body, is a waste of energy and time. This is exactly what is happening about this Boko Haram issue. Let’s be honest. Enough is enough.
