Stranded Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Agagbe in Benue State have been provided with temporary relief material to cushion the effect of the weather.
Our correspondent reports that the IDPs, who were earlier housed in Agagbe camp in Gwer West Local Government Area, were evacuated into an open space with most of them living under the trees to enable a philanthropist to renovate their dilapidated habitation.
They were earlier chased away by armed herders who invaded their different villages and had been living in the camp for more than two years.
Some of the IDPs were pictured on Saturday morning as they moved excitedly from under trees to occupy the classrooms allotted to them.

Chairman of the Agagbe IDPs camp, Ibaah Jacob, told our correspondent, on Saturday, that they have been asked to move into classrooms in the area as their new temporary shelter because schools have gone on holiday.
“Now that the schools are going for holidays, the local government chairman of Gwer-West has asked the RCM primary school to give some classrooms to the IDPs till school resumes,” Jacob stated.
