The Abuja Zonal Coordinator of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Professor Theophilus Lagi has called on students, parents and Nigerians to understand that their action as a patriotic agitation.
Professor Lagi stated this yesterday in a briefing at the ASUU Secretariat in University of Abuja.
He said government was given timelines, which were breached each time the strike was suspended.
He said Nigerians should blame the government for lacking in funding universities and called on students, parents and well-meaning Nigerians to understand that embarking on strike is “to salvage the already decayed university system and the future of our children.”
He said the current two weeks warning strike is premised on six cardinal demands, which had been agreed by the federal government and ASUU via several memoranda, to wit the 2012, the 2013 (MoU), the 2017 (MoA) and the 7th February, 2019 (MoA) which aggregated the cardinal arguments of the previous three.
