The strike action embarked upon by FCT workers has worsened activities across the area councils.
Abuja Metro reports that primary and secondary schools remain shut for the second day, with pupils seen roaming the streets.
Most schools visited in Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kwali, and Bwari were not open, as no teachers reported for duty.
Our correspondent further reports that government activities were crippled at all six area council secretariats, with their entrance gates padlocked. Administrative functions across the six area councils of the FCT have been paralyzed as local workers joined the ongoing strike in solidarity with the staff of the FCTA and FCDA in Abuja.
At the Bwari council secretariat, people were seen gathered in front of the gates discussing the situation in groups.
Some workers who spoke to our reporter confirmed they are on strike in solidarity with their counterparts at the FCTA.
Abuja Metro notes that the National Industrial Court yesterday ordered the workers to resume work immediately, pending the determination of the case brought against them by their employers.
