A chieftain of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and a chairmanship aspirant for the February 21, 2026 council election in Kwali Area Council, Comrade Baba M. Sani, has called on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to use a sledge hammer on the six area council chairmen for failing to pay the backlog of arrears and other entitlements of primary school teachers in the territory.
Sani, who addressed newsmen shortly after he purchased his nomination/expression of interest forms at the state SDP secretariat in Abuja, on Friday, said the six council chairmen had no excuse not to pay the primary school teachers their entitlements.
He said despite the huge allocation and the Internally Generated Revenue that the council chairmen have been receiving in the past three years, they have refused to pay the teachers their entitlements.
The council chairmen had called on the striking workers to suspend the strike and return to the dialogue table, a call that has been rejected by the teachers.
