Strong marriages are built on patience, partnership – Author

Author and medical practitioner, Dr Faith Chiejina, has said strong and enduring marriages are built on patience, perseverance and mutual support, urging couples to work together in overcoming challenges and achieving shared goals.

Chiejina spoke in Abuja during the unveiling of her new book, Rachel, which she said was inspired by the life and experiences of her late paternal grandmother.

She explained that the book tells a story of struggle, faith, hard work and eventual fulfilment, while conveying lessons about resilience and the importance of remaining steadfast during difficult times.

According to her, many people are often tempted to abandon their dreams or relationships when faced with challenges, but patience and perseverance remain essential to achieving lasting success.

“In life, there will always be struggles, pains and challenges, but people must learn to endure and remain patient. Many people want to rush out of difficult situations, but if you wait and persevere, you will eventually achieve your purpose,” she said.

The author also stressed the importance of partnership in marriage, particularly the need for husbands to support their wives in pursuing their careers and personal aspirations.

She argued that successful marriages thrive when both partners contribute to the growth and development of the family, rather than placing responsibilities solely on one spouse.

“The story of Rachel shows that every husband should support his wife to succeed. When a woman achieves her goals, she contributes to the family, supports the children and helps reduce pressure on the husband,” she stated.

Chiejina added that the character of Rachel exemplifies a woman whose faithfulness, industry and determination helped shape the success of her family and strengthen her relationship with her husband.

Reviewing the book, Angel Fortune described Rachel as a compelling story of faith, resilience and self-discovery, noting that it highlights the importance of spousal support and perseverance in the face of adversity.

She encouraged families to embrace cooperation and mutual understanding, saying the lessons contained in the book remain relevant to modern marriages.

Also speaking, Chief Executive Officer of AS Management Agency, Rhoda Kusimo Iloba, described the book as a powerful narrative of survival and hope.

On his part, husband to author, Sir Chika Dada Chiejina, said the work explores key issues surrounding marriage, faith, patience and commitment.

He noted that the story demonstrates how trust in God and perseverance can help couples navigate even the most difficult circumstances, urging readers to draw inspiration from its message of resilience and enduring partnership.
