An undergraduate student of Imo State University, Owerri has allegedly committed suicide after a fight with her boyfriend.

The deceased, identified as Jennifer Agomuo, 28, allegedly  poisoned herself after stabbing her boyfriend, identified as Johnson, over an undisclosed issue.

Daily Trust gathered that the tragedy  occurred in one of the hostels within the Aladinma Alliance area of the school on Wednesday.

It was gathered that Jennifer, a third year student of the Department of Computer Science of the varsity, was frightened after stabbing her boyfriend and thinking that he had died from the injury.

However the boyfriend who was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, survived the attack.

Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Obi Njoku, said the school received the news with shock.

The school spokesman added that the institution would investigate to find out what actually happened.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, were not fruitful.
