Student docked for stealing 75 litres of diesel

The accused person, residing at Yakasai Quarters of Kano metropolis, was arraigned at the magistrate court sitting at Zungeru Road, Kano, on Monday.
The court registrar, Abdulkarim Muhammad Nasi, who read the police First Information Report (FIR), said the accused faced three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft.
According to him, the accused, along with one Danfulani who is still at large, had on April 25, 2015, went to Sharada Company Limited, located at Sharada Industrial Estate, Kano, and stole four trailers’ batteries and 75 litres of diesel, with value of the items put at N115, 000.
The offense, according to the FIR, contravened Sections 97, 349 and 287 of Penal Code Law.
The accused pleaded guilty and begged the judge to tamper justice with mercy.
Prosecutor Mijinyawa Aluta told the court that police has concluded investigation on the matter and applied for a date for summary trial of the accused person.
The magistrate, Fauziyya Isa Sheshe, granted the application and adjourned the case to June 10 for trial.
She ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody.
