A 16-year-old student and his 20-year-old tricycle rider accomplice are standing trial before a Sabon Gari Sharia Court over alleged theft of sheep and ram.
The duo of Abduljabbar Akilu and Sani Jibrin were reported to police on December 14 by the owner of the animals, one Amadu Abdulkadir of Sani Mainagge quarters, who reported that his four rams and two sheep valued at N102,000 went missing two weeks ago.
The court heard that two of the animals were found in possession of the accused persons by the owner, the police First Information Report (FIR) read to them when they appear before the court stated.
Police prosecuting officer, Ahmad Musa told the court that the offense, contradicted Sections 120 and 133 of the Kano state Sharia Penal Code Law 2000.
However, the accused persons denied the content of the FIR when asked by the court if the information was true.
Presiding judge, Malam Abubakar Mahmud Ayagi ordered the accused to be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to December 29 to enable police present witnesses.
