A 21-year-old student, Adamu AbdulGaniyu, a resident of Ajijola Anabi Compound, Ita Kudima, Ilorin, Kwara State, has been remanded for allegedly sexually abusing a three-year-old girl.
The mother of the girl, Maryam Zakariyau, reported the matter at the Oja Oba Police Division.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the minor broke silence on the matter while standing with her mother in front of their house when the suspect passed by.
The FIR reads in part: “Maryam told her mother that while she was in the suspect’s house to receive Arabic lessons, the suspect (Abdulganiyu) took her into his room, removed her pants, laid her on the mat and slept on top of her.”

The charge added that, “Though a medical investigation conducted on the victim revealed that her hymen is still intact.”
Ruling on the matter, the Magistrate, Ibrahim Dasuki, ordered the remand of the suspect and adjourned to November 28, 2023.
