The Jema’a Emirate Students Association (JESA), in Kaduna State, has trained 50 girls in catering to enable them become self-reliant.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first set of trainees in Kafanchan, a former vice chairman of Jema’a Local Government Council, Alhaji Isiyaka Abdu Ladan, said training girls and women to learn some skills would help in shaping their future and improve the society.

He commended the organisers for coming up with the programme, which would  help to reduce youth restiveness and unemployment in the community.

Alhaji Jamilu Ado Bala, called on the youths to learn different skills in order to survive in a world that is increasingly leaning towards self-reliance.

“Let me use this opportunity to call on, especially girls and women to be trained, equipped and empowered in different skills to make them self-reliant as the so-called white collar jobs are no longer easily available.”

Earlier, the JESA president, Muhammad Sani Adamu, said the programme was borne out of their desire for the development of the girl-child and women.

He said they would continue to train girls and women to ensure societal development.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the knowledge gained to become self-employed and to also reciprocate the gesture by training other people in the society.

The Emir of Jama’a, Alhaji (Dr) Muhammad Isa Muhammad II, who was represented by the Madakin Jema’a and District Head of Fada, Alhaji Audi Isa Muhammad, commended the group for the training and called for the sustenance of its programmes.
