Stealing on campus especially in the various hostels and classrooms of the school has become a common act throwing most of the victims into hardship. The students are therefore calling on the perpetrators to desist from the act.
Items such as mobile phones, laptops and library materials, handouts, notebooks, clothes, money and food items are no longer safe in the campus, the students lamented.
A student who does not want her name in print said stealing can cause discomfort to the owner of the stolen property because it could be something very important to him or her.
She said the immoral act is carried out by both students who live in hostel and off-campus.
Another student said in most cases, the thieves do not just forcefully obtain the property of others but also injure or rape the female students depending on the situation.
“It is imperative to note that most of the students that involve in this immoral act are the very greedy ones,” he said.
He said the thieves will always want to feel among on campus, because cases showed that most of the property stolen were sold to obtain classic materials and to enjoy a luxury life on campus.
However, the students are of the opinion that various institutions can stop the immoral act on their campuses by introducing some level of publicly executed punishment such as placing of names and photographs of the perpetrators on the notice board and the media or rusticating them from the institution to serve as deterrent to other students.
