Students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Federal Polytechnic Bida have constructed a hydraulic crane of 200kg capacity which can be used to move items in automobile workshops.
The supervisor of the students and a lecturer in the department, Engineer Ferdinand Nwizugbo, said the crane was designed to lift heavy loads in automobile or mechanical workshop. He added that the hydraulic crane was designed uniquely different from other foreign cranes and powered by hydraulic pump which is mostly operated manually, adding that it was made from local materials.
