Primary and secondary school students in Kwara State have received educational materials from the state chapter of the Zakat and Sadaqat Foundation.

As part of its Back to School initiative, each student received materials, including school bags, exercise books, and writing supplies. The gesture aims to ease the financial burden on parents and improve learning outcomes.

Speaking at the distribution, the foundation’s state administrative officer, Sirajudeen Adisa, said the programme was introduced after observing the challenges many parents face in providing basic school needs.

“We believe this will support students’ education and relieve parents who struggle with these costs,” he said.

Adisa noted that the distribution marked the first phase of the project and appealed to more donors to support subsequent rounds.

State Coordinator Engr. Ariyo Bashir Olalekan added that the intervention complements government efforts to strengthen public education.

“Some pupils attend school with sacks or nylon bags; providing proper school materials prevents psychological distress and encourages better participation,” he said.

He urged students to use the items responsibly and to support classmates who were not included.

The foundation supports both Muslims and Christians and undertakes other activities in orphan care, widow support, community development, and health.

A teacher, Hajia Salaudeen Sarat, commended the foundation, saying the support would significantly reduce pressure on parents, while a beneficiary, Abdulkadir Zinat Ajoke, expressed gratitude and prayed for continued blessings on the organisation.
