They particularly cited the current strike crippling university education in a peaceful protest by members of the association’s Zone D.
Monsur Adeyemo, one of the association’s coordinators who led the protest said the entire students in the zone have declared their support for the ongoing indefinite strike by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over federal government failure to implement a 2009 agreement it signed with the union and a fresh 2012 memorandum of understanding.
The protest which commenced from the Mokola roundabout, took the students to several parts of the ancient city of Ibadan, chanting ant-government songs.
Adeyemo said the federal government, through its persistent refusal to honour the agreement, has shown that it has no plan for the development of education in the country.
Also addressing the crowd of students and members of the public present at the protest, the secretary of the Joint Action Council, JAC, Abiodun Aremu condemned the action of the federal government, saying it must remember that the future of the country belongs to the youths and that no individual or government should attempt to ruin their future.
