The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), in collaboration with its alumni association of Nigeria (JAAN) and other stakeholders, have urged students to avoid substance abuse, warning that it could deprive them of a meaningful life.

The call was made during a one-day workshop, held at Catherina International Academy, Abuja, aimed at educating secondary school students on the dangers of drug abuse.

The President of JAAN, Ahmed Agberankhe, expressed concern over the increasing rate of substance abuse among adolescents. He stressed the need for urgent action to curb the growing menace and prevent more young people from falling victim.

The Chief Representative of JICA, Susumu Yuzurio, represented by Chief Programme Officer, Kingsley Ozorike, emphasised the need to intensify awareness campaigns against substance abuse, particularly among adolescents in their formative years.
